The native versus cross-platform decision gets made too early on most mobile projects, usually based on which framework a previous team used rather than what the app actually needs. We evaluate it against three questions: does the app need deep platform integration, camera, biometrics, background processing, that cross-platform tooling handles poorly, does the team need to ship to iOS and Android simultaneously on a tight timeline, and what's the realistic maintenance capacity after launch. That evaluation, not framework preference, drives whether we build native or reach for React Native or Flutter. Every mobile app we ship includes crash reporting and performance monitoring connected to real device telemetry, not just simulator testing, because the failure modes that matter, low-end devices, poor connectivity, background app suspension, only show up in the field. We also build the backend API alongside the app with mobile-specific concerns in mind: payload size, offline queuing, and push notification infrastructure, rather than repurposing a web API never designed for intermittent connectivity.
