Reverse ETL & BI Pipeline

Designed and built an end-to-end reverse ETL and BI pipeline for a cannabis retail analytics platform. The solution extracts data from multiple POS systems and operational sources, transforms it through a medallion architecture in a cloud data warehouse, and reverse-syncs enriched datasets back into operational tools. Paired with a self-service BI layer that empowers retail operators with real-time sales analytics, inventory insights, and compliance reporting.

The Challenge

A cannabis retail analytics platform needed to give store operators real-time visibility into sales, inventory, and compliance, but the underlying data was scattered across multiple point-of-sale systems and operational tools with no shared source of truth. Retailers were making decisions on stale exports and manual spreadsheets, and there was no reliable way to push cleaned, enriched data back into the tools store staff actually used day to day.

The Solution

Designed and built an end-to-end reverse ETL and BI pipeline connecting operational systems to a cloud data warehouse and back again.

  • Extraction: Pulls sales, inventory, and transaction data from multiple POS systems and operational sources into a central warehouse.
  • Transformation: A medallion architecture progressively cleans, models, and enriches raw data into analytics-ready datasets.
  • Reverse sync: Enriched datasets are synced back into operational tools, putting warehouse-grade data quality in front of store staff where they already work.
  • Self-service BI: A reporting layer gives retail operators real-time sales analytics, inventory insights, and compliance reporting without waiting on a data team.

The Outcome

Store operators now work from a single, trusted view of sales, inventory, and compliance data that updates continuously and flows back into the systems they use every day, replacing manual exports with a pipeline that scales across new POS integrations and retail locations.
